In February 2021, H2 Green Steel announced that it plans to build an industrial park for large-scale production of fossil-free steel with the help of hydrogen-based green energy in Boden. The establishment in Svartbyn Industrial Park makes Boden an active party in one of the largest investments and industrial changes in Sweden’s history. <\/p>\n

– We at Boden are very happy that H2 Green Steel’s establishment is now a reality. Now we together show the way into a new phase of the green industrial revolution and what will take shape here in Boden will be completely unique, says Claes Nordmark, municipal councilor. <\/p>\n

The large investment is expected to provide great opportunities for both business and society at large. The result of long-term work <\/h3>\n

A number of years ago, five business areas were identified that were determined to have extra high growth potential in Boden. These are electricity-intensive industries, recycling and environmental technology (cleantech), cultural and creative industries, the horse industry and the hospitality industry and trade. Developing these areas has been the main focus for our business developers. <\/p>\n

For many years, we have worked to sell Boden to the international market for larger establishments, with good access to green electricity, land and premises, natural cooling, robust infrastructure and fast decision-making processes as the main arguments. Thanks to that, we see new heavy establishments in Boden and we are of course hoping for even more exciting projects in the future.<\/p>\n

Good business climate <\/h3>\n

The business people in Boden municipality are very satisfied with the local business climate and the municipality’s exercise of authority towards the business community. It is about everything from purchases and agreements to service and permits. We see this clearly in most surveys from, among others, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and Sweden’s municipalities and regions, which ranked Boden highest in Norrbotten on several occasions in recent years.
