Meet Kai Wang from China, Nelson Kiyoshi Kossuga from Brazil and Sushant Bhonde from India \u2013 game development students at Boden Gamecamp.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe  width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aHKQLYIfYbc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Futuregames\u2019 courses at Boden Gamecamp have really made a name for themselves in the international tech world. Now people from all over gather here in new, modern facilities in S\u00e4vast. I liked it because I could actually breathe here. I love to go out, it is always nice weather and I love the snow. I would much rather have minus 20 degrees than plus 30\u201d, says Sushant Bhonde.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back home in India, he worked as a game tester for Ubisoft and says it\u2019s true what they say, that all game testers really want to design games themselves. Kai is in his second year of game programming studies and started his education in Stockholm but chose to move here because of the housing situation. Here, students get help arranging accommodation nearby.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dThe housing in Stockholm is crazy, it\u2019s really difficult to find a place to live. It took me around an hour or more to get to school, and during the winter it was even worse. That\u2019s why I asked to be transferred to Boden. They were able to offer a house pretty close to school, it\u2019s a 20-minute walk from here\u201d, says Kai.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/flyttatillboden.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/8576-original-948290-1080x720.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11713\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kai Wang from China.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SMALL TOWN LIFE WITH PROXIMITY<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sushant also chose Boden over Stockholm because of housing. Here he lives a mere 30 meters from the school facilities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhere I\u2019m from, there are far too many people and I prefer Boden because there are no people here. The population is around 28,000 and that\u2019s basically the population of my street back home. That\u2019s why a lot of focus is placed on project-based learning, where students from the different disciplines (game designer, game artist, game programmer and QA\/game tester) come together and create four games during their training. I haven\u2019t seen anyone else do that\u201d, says Sushant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dA big advantage to having studied here is that we don\u2019t really need to worry about our portfolio. Having this shared workspace, where everybody is very excited about making games, is very friendly, very comforting and very inspiring. It\u2019s also pretty nice that this location brings together a lot of international people. Stockholm is attractive for work opportunities, but there are also jobs in gaming here in Boden.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI really want to settle in Sweden. I don\u2019t know why, but I want to live in Boden after my studies. There are no big companies here but I really do like Boden a lot\u201d, says Sushant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a great demand for game developers in the region and the industry shows strong growth. More and more game studios are being established here in Boden and even if the big companies haven\u2019t found their way here yet, that could soon change. Some really big players in the industry have shown interest in the town and discussions are ongoing behind the scenes.
