At Kids Corner we use a Reggio Emilia inspired approach. We provide a preschool where children’s safety, happiness and health are the focus. Our educators are curious and inspired by children’s explorations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Children are born competent and create their own knowledge together with other children and adults. Through different experiences, indoors and outdoors, children create their learning in the encounter with the environment, the children or us educators. We can then learn more together by asking questions that lead to our own decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We challenge children’s minds to increase their curiosity and desire to learn. Our outdoor space is seen as an important asset in the educational environment, all year round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our activities are based on the preschool curriculum LPf\u00f6-18. Early childhood education should lay the foundation for lifelong learning. It should be fun, safe and educational for all children. Education should be based on a holistic approach to children and their needs, where care, development and learning form a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With us, reflection is the basis for the development of work at individual, group and organizational level. A reflective approach to practice requires tools such as educational documentation. It allows us to continuously monitor and develop activities at all levels of the preschool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In play, children process their reality. Play stimulates imagination and empathy. Play can also challenge and stimulate children’s motor skills, communication, cooperation and problem solving, and the ability to think in terms of images and symbols. Therefore, it is important to give children time, space and peace to play, experiment and experience. When we have the privilege of participating in children’s play, we can also get to know them and build mutual trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For us, outdoor life is an important part of the preschool, and we have therefore chosen to spend a lot of time outdoors. We aim to be outside at least twice a day. As far as possible, we do everything outdoors, i.e. play, eat fruit, lunch and snacks outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We put sleeping children in outdoor carts all year round. We have a car-port where the wagons are located so they are always under cover. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our proximity to the forest, walking paths and various playgrounds inspires us to explore our local community and get a big dose of physical activity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meals are both prepared and eaten outdoors once a week for most of the year. Our great Muurikka helps us with this luxury!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The preschool plans its activities so that they are carried out in a way that promotes children’s development, health and well-being. The preschool offers children a good environment and a well-balanced daily rhythm with both rest and activities adapted to their needs and length of stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The preschool’s children represent many different parts of the world and each child’s cultural identity and heritage makes this preschool unique. We have about 15 different languages in the children’s groups, although this varies from year to year. We work closely with guardians to find new ways to involve them. We work on different projects every year and right now we are working on different cultures. We compare similarities and differences between different countries and cultures, look for facts, look at flags and taste dishes from around the world. The work creates a cross-cultural understanding and affinity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have also had a project called “Different but equally good” where we focused on all the things we can learn from each other because of our differences. When we start a project, we start from the children’s interests and questions and link it to the curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We think it is important for children to learn about both reuse and recycling. Here at the preschool we “recycle” a lot, and what others see as rubbish, we see as something that can be reused and renewed. (In this way we encourage children to develop their creative thinking).
