Together with her partner Simon, Frida moved here from Östersund. The jobs were their primary initial reason for moving here. But they have stayed because they not only found the jobs but also the life they wanted. She works for the municipality, he works for the Swedish Armed Forces. .
“We had both finished our university studies, and the choice fell on Boden because Simon had previously worked here within the Swedish Armed Forces. We have gained a fantastic network of friends who have truly enriched our lives here”, says Frida.
In connection with the move, they also contributed a new little citizen to the municipality, Alfons. This meant that Frida was on parental leave for the first period here.

“I quickly realized that I would feel lonely without knowing anyone in Boden. I wasn’t offered a parent group through the child health center, so I started looking for friends and other parents on leave in other ways. We have really appreciated the open preschool, the Church of Sweden’s activities like “Liten och stor” (Little and Big), and various activities such as baby swimming. My very first contact here actually came via Instagram. I searched for Boden on Instagram’s search function to find inspiration for places to visit and was captivated by an account that posted such beautiful pictures from various excursion destinations. I contacted her and asked how to get there, and instead, she suggested she could show me the places personally. I met another friend because we repeatedly happened to visit the same favorite playground. Eventually, we started talking and planning meetups. There are so many nice and good playgrounds here in Boden, and we almost always talk to other parents and children when we are there playing”, says Frida.
Emergency Coordination
Now she has handed over parental leave to dad Simon and has started her position as an emergency coordinator in Boden Municipality.
“This means I work on developing and coordinating the municipality’s emergency preparedness. An important part is to strengthen our role in total defense and civil defense, so that we are better equipped for both peacetime crises and heightened alert”, she explains.
Close to everything
The couple describes how they enjoy living in a smaller town, where most things are within walking distance. They appreciate the ‘närhetsliv’ with easy access to work and preschool, and being able to reach a hiking trail or a mountain within just 15 minutes.

“It’s something we truly appreciate in everyday life, and therefore, the ‘proximity life’ feels important to us. Together with our son, often in a child carrier backpack, we have discovered several favorite places that we return to. One of them is Öngårdsklinten, which is a reasonably short trip with a nice view. “Hemliga trappan” (The Secret Stairs) and Åberget have also become favorites for us”.
A warm welcome to the whole family!
