In February 2021, H2 Green Steel announced that it plans to build an industrial park for large-scale production of fossil-free steel with the help of hydrogen-based green energy in Boden. The establishment in Svartbyn Industrial Park makes Boden an active party in one of the largest investments and industrial changes in Sweden’s history.

The large investment is expected to provide great opportunities for both business and society at large. The municipality plays an active role in both the planning of the industrial park and the societal transformation that awaits in the wake of this heavy establishment.

The result of long-term work

A number of years ago, five business areas were identified that were determined to have extra high growth potential in Boden. These are electricity-intensive industries, recycling and environmental technology (cleantech), cultural and creative industries, the horse industry and the hospitality industry and trade. Developing these areas has been the main focus for our business developers.

For many years, we have worked to sell Boden to the international market for larger establishments, with good access to green electricity, land and premises, natural cooling, robust infrastructure and fast decision-making processes as the main arguments. Thanks to that, we see new heavy establishments in Boden and we are of course hoping for even more exciting projects in the future.

Boden Business Park is a municipally owned company that helps companies to establish, develop or expand their operations in Boden. They create conditions for the business community to grow and for the municipality of Boden to achieve its goals.

Boden Business Park is an associate member of SISP, a Swedish innovation network that consists of incubators and science parks and works hard to ensure that Boden grows.

Good business climate

The business people in Boden municipality are very satisfied with the local business climate and the municipality’s exercise of authority towards the business community.
