Become a digital creator at Boden Game Camp

Boden Game Camp is a hub and a unique ecosystem for the computer game industry in Boden. We currently have about 300 students and 20 companies. It also houses our game incubator – the first in Norrland.

Tomorrow’s digital creators are trained here. Boden Game Camp is an integral part of Boden Business Park. Students from Sweden and around the world seek to come here Norrbotten for education with good conditions for a career in a digital industry. Our state-of-the-art facilities accommodate 300 students in one adult education program, five vocational education programs and one upper secondary education program.

We also have Norrland’s first gaming incubator. The venue also includes a create section for people who are curious about game creation.

The Incubator are made for games and it gives you the opportunities you need to get from a pitch to a studio that are ready to make the next steps. The Incubator gives you 12 month runaway with a full setup that you can read more from, down below.

Indie Game Developer is a one and a half-year municipal adult education (Vuxenutbildning) for professional game development, which are based on the students’ needs, previous knowledge and and experience, where you will learn how to work as a professional game developer focused on small and medium-sized game companies – Indiespelbolag. The education will provide you with tools and skills to work as an indie game developer in your own company, together with others or as an employee. The education does not require prior knowledge in the field but great interest and experience in game development, game production has previously been recommended.

Whether it is level design, gameplay design, system design, scripting, narrative design, quality assurance or game production management that you are most interested in doing for games, this program will get you into the industry with credibility through hands-on development experience in game design.

A QA / Game Tester quality assures digital productions through systematic tests where the process is planned, implemented and documented. They can understand underlying factors to errors and can report deviations with relevant information that makes it easier to recreate and solve the problem.

What you get:

  • Knowledge about how to quality secure Games, IT systems, script automated tests, design and perform tests.
  • The ability to start working right after the education

  • LIA (internship) 20 weeks 20 places

 

Modern VFX is considerably broader and characterizes an entire industry that works with “special effects”, i.e. everything from CGI (computer-generated graphics), compositing (image processing) and motion capture (computer-processed motion recordings), to the various tools and software needed to create it. At a specialized level, it is usually one of these areas that you work with.

The education mainly leads to employment, but many animators & VFX artists are self-employed. Demand for the professional role can be found in industry, film, TV, advertising and, on behalf of Sweden, not least in the gaming industry.

Changemaker Educations

Changemaker Educations runs educations, mainly for game development. When Changemaker Educations got filled up in the educations in Stockholm, the first game education was started in Boden, in collaboration with Sunderby Folk High School. Changemaker runs Futuregames, which is ranked as the world’s second best school for game design by The Rookies! In the autumn of 2021, Changemaker Education’s five post-secondary game educations will start in Boden.

SUMMER CAMP BY BODEN GAME CAMP

For ten weeks, 15 people will receive an introduction to game development in Boden Game Camp’s state-of-the-art facilities at Boden Business Park in Sävast. For those who want to commute by bus, buses from central Boden and Luleå go here.

After completing the summer camp, it is possible to pick up grades in the courses Applied Programming and Interface Design, which are CSN-eligible. The summer camp also opens doors for further studies in game development.

Summercamp by Boden Game Camp is a collaboration between Boden Municipality, Luleå Municipality, FCV Sweden and Previous AB.
