The long-scheduled installation of the cinema screen and technology this week has unfortunately been canceled due to acute illness. This means that the planned movie premiere must be postponed.
“It feels very unfortunate, but it’s unfortunately not something we can control. The goal now is to have the premiere on Culture Night in August instead,” says Fredrik Larsson, operations coordinator at Medborgarhuset.
Boden’s new cinema screen’s long journey from France, through strikes and closed ports, has finally reached Boden. Last week, the long roll was carried into Medborgarhuset in Boden, and there were hopes of being able to show movies soon. Technicians for installation were booked for this week. What remained was to connect and test the technology that Boden Municipality has decided to purchase from the previous operators of the cinema in Boden.
“It’s not just anyone who can connect this; there are only a few in Sweden who can,” says Fredrik Larsson.
The projector needs to be calibrated and connected to various distributors, and the new screen needs to be mounted and connected.
Everything was all set for installation today, but a case of illness unfortunately put a sudden stop to Boden’s film plans. Combined with recovery time and holiday seasons, and the fact that several key people are required for this type of technology to be installed, the decision has been made to wait until everyone is back in place.
“We have a great relationship and trust in the team doing this, they understand our situation and will be here the first day everyone is back in place,” explains Fredrik Larsson.
The new goal now is to be able to show movies in Boden again on Culture Night at the end of August.
“As long as nothing unforeseen happens,” Fredrik adds cautiously.
And just to be safe after all the twists and turns, we say knock on wood – hopefully by Culture Night we’ll be popping movie popcorn again and rolling out the red carpet!
