Now it’s close! During the spring, the municipality of Boden has worked intensively to reopen the cinema in Medborgarhuset. Now a sneak preview is waiting around the corner!
– In the spring, we managed to find a solution whereby the municipality of Boden buys back parts of the previous cinema equipment – on condition that it works with the new equipment we have purchased,” says Fredrik Rönnberg, the municipality’s new head of culture.
Unfortunately, the old screen could not be saved after dismantling, but a new screen has been ordered and is on its way to Boden.
In January, the municipality of Boden took over the operation of the property that houses the city’s central cultural facilities – a hub for culture, meetings and community. Both short-term and long-term investments are now planned. The cinema is the heart of the building, and a high priority project.
– “It feels fantastic that we are so close now. A lot of commitment has been put in, and this means a lot to many people,” says Fredrik Larsson, who is responsible for the cinema and the premises in Medborgarhuset and has followed the activities for many years.

– “We are currently testing the technology and if everything goes according to plan, we will be able to show films in Boden very soon. We hope to invite you to a sneak preview this summer and then get started with a packed autumn program, says the team behind the initiative.
