Fyra kvinnor i sommarklänningar och kjolar promenerar leende på en gräsmatta intill ett gult tegelhus, omgivna av grönska.

Emmy Näslund

Here’s the girl who traded the Pacific Ocean for the river, and is thriving like a fish in water! It started when her American friend was going to Finland for a young adult event, with the aim of meeting new people. Emmy, who had only previously been to Southern Europe, was curious to discover Scandinavia and went along with her friend. There she met Isak from Unbyn; they got married last year and have now moved in together in Boden. Isn’t that wonderful!

She describes her hometown in California as densely populated and somewhat chaotic. The environment in Boden is completely different—a tranquility and closeness to nature that she hadn’t quite expected. Together, they have explored places like Kukkolaforsen and Storforsen, gone on snowmobile trips, and tried out a sauna.
— If there’s anything I miss from home, besides my family, it’s our cat and my piano!

She is working hard to learn Swedish. Besides being forced to speak Swedish in SFI courses, she listens to Swedish music and watches Disney movies.
— I know the movies by heart, so I understand them without actually understanding the language. That’s how I learn Swedish by watching the movies.

We say welcome to Emmy!
