A house listing brought him and his wife Yana to Spikberg outside Harads. With the move came a new life— for Sven, that meant a job in a completely new industry at the design hotel Arctic Bath. Sven Glodowski is from Germany. He and his wife Yana lived in her home country, Ukraine, which they left because of the war.
– I spent a lot of time with my uncle in Gothenburg while growing up. I’ve always liked Sweden and have been thinking for a long time about finding somewhere here. Now we searched on Hemnet and found a house in Spikberg.
Sven applied for a wide range of jobs and is now in his third season at Arctic Bath. His duties are a far cry from his previous job as a chemical plant operator. At Arctic Bath, he takes care of everything from frozen pipes and gangways to leading a sauna ritual with the guests. A “jack-of-all-trades”, according to his employer.
– We’re really happy here. My wife works from home for the same international company as before. She analyses medical research and can work digitally from anywhere in the world. My brother, who lives in Germany, has also bought a house nearby. We like the nature, the peace and quiet, and the people here. We also enjoy going to concerts, like Isabelle van Keulen & Norrbotten Chamber Orchestra. And we truly love the scent when you open the door with the forest outside. In summer we have breakfast outdoors, and Yana does yoga in the sun. We enjoy the calm here.
