Planning your trip

The easiest way to plan your trip is to use Länstrafiken’s app, where you can find both local traffic and Länstrafiken (long distance) buses when you search for routes.

You can also find a classic timetable for local traffic on the Citybuss Boden website and in the Boden app “Bodenappen”. FAQs, prices, contact details and more can be found on the Citybuss Boden website.

How to buy a mobile ticket with the app

1. Download the mobile app. Search for “Länstrafiken i Norrbotten” in App Store or Google Play or click on the link at the top of the page.
   
   
2. Buy your ticket. The first time you buy a mobile ticket, you need to activate a payment card (VISA/MasterCard), Swish or the invoice service Klarna. You activate your payment method with a few details directly on your phone, and then it’s easy to pay by bank card or invoice. The last used payment method is saved as a default, but it is easy to change if needed. For purchases by card, the CVC code must be entered at each purchase. If you’re under 18 and want to use a mobile ticket, you’ll need an adult to link it to your card or billing service before you buy your first mobile ticket.
   
   
3. Travel with your mobile ticket. You can get your ticket directly from the app and see how long it is valid for travel and/or transfer. During the validity period, the mobile ticket is green and mobile. If the ticket is red, it is invalid. If a ticket is checked, staff will ask for the QR code or check digit associated with the ticket.
   
   
4. Activation. If you activate the ticket too early, the validity period may expire and the ticket becomes invalid. Do not activate your ticket until you see the bus and are about to board.

Local services

Within Boden’s urban area, you can use local transport services operated by Citybuss Boden on behalf of the municipality of Boden. Medborgarplatsen is the hub for local traffic in Boden. All lines meet here and you can easily change between the four local lines and several Länstrafiken lines. The route map for public transport can be found on the top right of the page under ‘links’.

Regional transport

To travel outside Boden’s urban area or to other municipalities, you can travel on one of Länstrafiken’s lines. You can find timetables and prices on the Länstrafiken website or app.

Youth card

The Youth Card is for young people aged 7 to 19 and is a season ticket that allows free travel for 6 months or 1 year.

• The youth card costs SEK 359 per year or SEK 179 per half-year. You can buy the card at Medborgarservice in Stadshuset or at the Resecentrum down by the railway station. Please note that you must be able to prove your age at the time of purchase and at ticket checks.

• With the youth card, you can travel as much as you want within the municipality of Boden until the day you turn 20 years old with local traffic and Länstrafiken lines 21, 23, 29, 44, 260, 261, 262, 265 and 266.

• After 19:00 on weekdays, you can also travel on Länstrafiken line 28. If you live in Sävastnäs, we offer tickets for your youth card so that you can travel on line 28 at all times of the day, please contact the municipality of Boden by phone 0921-620 000 or e-mail tekniska@boden.se.

• The Youth Card is personal and only one card per person is valid. If you have multiple cards, all but the newest one will be blocked.

• If you already have a youth card, you should use the same card when you need to recharge it as long as it is complete and working. By using your old card, we save both the environment and our card administration costs.

• Please save your card number or receipt in case the card stops working or you lose it. The Travel Center can help you block the old card and transfer your trips to a new card.

• Even if Länstrafiken’s buses operate in Boden’s urban area, you should use local transport as much as possible. This is because the municipality of Boden is responsible and pays for local transport. For each journey made with a youth card on Länstrafiken buses, the municipality of Boden must pay compensation. By choosing local transport, you help us to continue developing our own local transport services!
