Nathalie Thurn

Say hello to our new GIS colleague, Nathalie Thurn. From Germany, via geoinformatics studies in Gävle, job opportunities led her to Boden. Here, she is one of the people working with Boden Municipality’s GIS, geographic information systems. We joined Nathalie and her GIS colleague Hanna for drone photography when it was time to document the algal bloom.

“I was open to jobs all over Sweden, and it was great that I found a job so quickly here in Boden. I like the forest and I enjoy the size of Boden.”

Nathalie started working here this summer and quickly found an apartment within walking distance of work.

“My partner is still living in Gävle, studying to be a land surveyor. He is also on his way to Boden as soon as he finishes, so we are already looking for something a bit larger, preferably closer to the forest.”

Nathalie was quickly thrown into all the tasks affecting the GIS specialists in our growing municipality. This involves everything from updating our digital maps—for example, during the construction of new roads or buildings—to the development of our WebGIS, which all citizens can use (WebGIS Boden).

“I like hiking and cycling, but I also enjoy dancing. So maybe I’ll try that here. And I’m looking forward to winter—and autumn, when everything becomes so colorful!”
