He’s the nurse who worked in Norway, met love in Hemavan, and when it turned out that the object of his affection worked at Arctic Bath in Harads, he became a Harads resident. Oscar is working on learning more Swedish than Norwegian and validating his nursing degree to Swedish standards. Shortly after moving here, he contacted the Edestrand nursing home in Harads, where he immediately got a job as a healthcare assistant.
“They’d like to keep me on once everything is complete. And it feels absolutely right to stay here. They’re so kind to the elderly here, I really enjoy it and live just a few minutes from work,” Oscar sums up while assisting one of the gentlemen at Edestrand with crossword solving.
Oscar is clearly appreciated by the elderly and takes one of the ladies by the arm for a short walk to Edestrand’s greenhouse, where strawberries were still growing during our visit. The proximity to work also leaves plenty of time for leisure. Among other things, he quickly secured a spot on the local football team. Together with his partner Saga and their dog Asko, he also enjoys exploring nature and the surroundings, has tried ice fishing, found swimming spots, and visited flea markets and summer cafés.
