Samuel is the lift attendant who came from Karlsborg in the south for a season in Storklinten, advanced to operations manager, and has now moved permanently to Boden. Samuel has his grandmother in Bodträskfors and spent many school holidays in the area growing up.
— I had skied here before and knew that Storklinten existed.
During his first season, he lived with his grandmother, but last autumn he became a true Boden local with his own apartment in town. This past summer he worked at First Camp Boden, and now he’s starting his third season at Storklinten.
Right now, he and his colleagues are working hard to maintain and improve what remains of the 120,000 m³ of snow that Storklinten saved from last year for the alpine world elite’s pre-season training. Teams from Sweden, Spain, and Japan, as well as mixed teams, are already on-site. A total of 26 nationalities are expected during an intensive period leading up to November 30, when the slopes open to the public.
Samuel has brought his interest in fitness to his proximity life, and last summer the entire Storklinten team rode the Cykelvasan together. Samuel’s plan is to cycle the entire way between Boden and southern Sweden. So far, he has cycled as far as Sundsvall.
