In Boden we live a life of #Närhetsliv. By that we mean the life where you’re close to everything that matters and more – your children’s activities, your job, schools, cultural events, attractive homes, shopping and nature.
Norriån is a small village located on the Livasälven river about 6 miles north of Boden, “where the asphalt road ends” and where the northern lights are particularly strong. Lakes with fanciful names surround the village: Stor-Lappträsket, Mörtträsket and Grundträsket and the smaller lakes Lappen, Vintervägstjärnen, Nedre Tjuven and Håkanstjärnen. Mörtträskbäcken flows through the village with a preserved mill from the 19th century. The settlement is characterized by red-painted houses that were built in the 40s and 50s with the help of affordable housing loans. There are also some holiday homes. The village is characterized by tranquillity and proximity to old, species-rich forests. The availability of reindeer lichen makes the area important for reindeer husbandry. A mobile phone mast has recently been erected, which will give the village access to 5G networks. About 60 people live in the village.

19 KilometerThe first settlers in the area were hunters and fishermen who moved to the banks of Grundträsket in the 18th century. The industries that emerged and that long characterized the area were forestry, reindeer husbandry and rafting. Until the 1960s there was a shop, post office and school. On the other side of the Livasälven river, the so-called Malmens väg ran for a long time. Here, ore was transported from the Gällivare mine to Avafors by horse and reindeer. Today the route serves as a popular snowmobile trail.
